The following is a list of benefits for Canadian industry of participation in the activities of the CCIIW:

  • The wealth of technical information on all aspects of welding, welding engineering, welding education and inspection generated through the work and communications of the IIW Commissions can be accessed through attendance at meetings of the Commissions.
  • Accessibility of documents which are presented or made available to members of the Commissions and which are not generally published externally.

  • A vast network of people worldwide which embraces anyone participating in the activities of the IIW or member organizations of the IIW; a network which embraces industry, academia, and the industry and government-sponsored research organizations.
  • The involvement in the development of welding, welding consumables and welding design standards by the IIW on behalf of ISO, whose standards are increasingly being adopted as national standards. Participation in these activities allows Canada two chances of influencing the development of such standards - once through the IIW and then through the draft balloting of the ISO documents.
  • Participation in the activities of the CCIIW by Canadian industry will give the industry not only a good understanding of things to come, but will also present the opportunity to influence the future.
